First and foremost I just want to throw out a big 'THANK YOU' to everyone on here that has ever posed a pic, mod, DIY, tinkered, puttered...you get the idea. RSS, TonyFury, Tony, Gar, Richard, WildBill, Predator....and the list goes on and on and on.....:D

So I finally got home from out of town and just hunkered down in my garage for the last 2 days and got at it.

There are a few more things that I want to get painted, like the rear hub, arm and dust ring (black). I have always had the mindset of "less is more". However, the weather is too nice and I just want to ride. :)

Here are some pics of what I have done thus far. Just a quick note, to those with the matte or black bikes, painting the kick stand black was a really quick and easy mod that cleans up the bike a bit.

I'm not sure if Matte is the fastest, but it sure is the sexiest!:D

Just my luck….. I get a million dollar idea and give it away…… LOL…..
I am curious on how many guys have done this mod now….
How did you paint the kickstand black? your bike is really nice....can i drop mine off and have you do all the same mods???
Start a poll.
  1. I have done Tony's lower fender mod.
  2. I plan to do the fender mod in the near future.
  3. I'm thinking about it but still undecided.
  4. I have installed the L&M lowering spring.
  5. I have lowered the fender and the spring.
  6. I have installed the Sumo-X 250 kit.
  7. I'm saving up for the Sumo-X 250 kit.
  8. I am keeping my rear fender, spring and tire stock.
  9. I'm undecided or really confused and dont know what I want.
Well I think I fall under #9
How hard was it painting the kickstand? That was a great idea btw.

Hey Easy,

Doing the kickstand was easy. Obviously I took it off the bike when I had the bike up and the front tire off when I was painting the forks. I got my paint match from color rite, black (to match the frame). All I did was give it a shot of primer (oh, and I did not sand it as it is a rough finish already) and about 10-15 mins flash time between coats (I gave it thin coats), about 5 coats total. The only thing is, on the bottom of the kick stand, obviously the paint is going to scrape off when you put your kick stand out and park your bike. I am looking for something really thin (and black) that I can glue on the bottom of the kick stand that would hold up from the kick stand scraping on the ground when you park your bike. I was thinking about cutting up a hockey puck and gluing a piece of it to the bottom of the kick stand, but we will see.

Consider a thin piece of Delrin (black), shaped and held on with 3M Contact Cement.

Cheers
