I want to buy some forward controls but do not know what to buy. I am about 5"11, and have longer legs. When I ride, I find myslef extending my foot over the stock footpeg and resting my heel on it. With that being said should I buy 3" extended forward or just the standard forward? Thanks for the input guys!

I am 6", with longer legs also, and the extended 3" accutronix fwd cntrls I have are about an inch or slightly more outside my optimum comfort range. Better than the stock of course, which left me feeling kinda cramped. The general guideline is if you have longer than a 34" inseam you might benefit from extended; shorter or on the line you might prefer the stock. My inseam is right at 34".

Alternatively, you could consider RAW's adjustable controls: while I like my accutronix' style a little better, these are fully adjustable along a 3-inch line, according to RAW. It doesn't specify that on the site; just says adjustable, but I called to specifically check on that. If I were buying today I would probably get these, simply for the moveability. To my knowledge there aren't any other adjustable fwd controls, although maybe that's changed and you should check around; I'd be interested to know if you find any.

I would like to someday get a set of extended controls, but realistically they are out of my price range for now. I like those swingwing pegs that RSS has when they are extended out I think they look good, I'm not to excited about the look of them when they are collapsed all that much, but for a near term solution I think they are great alternative considering the price compared to forward controls. I think they'll give the legroom I need if I'm going to be doing any highway riding, I'm 5' 11" with a 34 inseam. Most of my riding is back and forth to work which is only 7 miles, but I'll see how much highway riding I get done this year since I only got the bike in late September/early October of 09 I didn't get to ride a whole lot.
