there is a post somewhere on the forum that shows a fury with 18-20" apes. i personally think it looks like a$$, but thats just me. they used the stock gauge cluster, so it just looks weird...

i found the thread, but it was an old Craigslist ad, and it was expired. sorry...

I'm not a fan of really high apes....I do like the old style Hap Jones mini apes with the double crossbars between the rise portion of the bars but on the lower end....I'd like a hybrid of that with a mount for our speedo on the lower portion.....maybe with a z angular top.....anyone know someone legit who custom fabs bars that don't cost through the nose?

I know a few have installed spacers, but I'm not a fan of modifying the stock bars. The stock bars work so well with the lines of the bike that I wouldn't want to change them.

hey Chopped,

I agree, the lines of the bike are beautiful as is.....but I favor a more angled grip position, like with mini apes.....there's gotta be some type of alternative to the stock bars that won't ruin the look of the bike.....I mean, heck, it's supposed to be a chopper (rally isn't, imo - really is what I'd call a raked bike)....love the bike, but something in me wants the handlebars to be different.....I'm too "old school" I'd guess....

I couldn't agree with you more. The stock bars carry the lines on this bike well and I can not image anything else on this bike. I don't even want to see a photo of a set of ape hangers on the fury for fear I migh throw up!!!

Anyone put any ape hangers on their fury? Was curious to see what they looked like...???

Anyone put any different kind of bars on one?
Why? Why? Why? (I had to have 10 characters for it to post). But still, why?

Cheers

LOL! There has to be some alternative for angled grips that still would look decent on the bike....imo, it doesn't need to be completely "cookie-cutter"

So, changing all else on the bike (including the tank for some) is fair game, but changing the bars is taboo???? Interesting....

I'm still on a quest though....gotta be a happy median in there somewhere.....

Wooden Horse please I'm begging you anything but the bars. Put on some risers change the grips but apes might destroy the look of this bike.
Most might agree there are certain areas of this bike that carry the lines that makes the look of this bike so special and the bars are cool.

You have however peaked my interest thou to see just what you have in mind wth ape hangers. I would also be interested to see if the other members feel the same as I do.

Hey Dave,

I'm not gonna put something crappy on her...I agree, the stock bars look great on her. I thought about the risers and was considering the cannella (sp?) ones, but considering the price, seems to me bars wouldn't be that much more, although I know it'd require new cables, probably grips, etc....but I would love to have a grip position more narrow and angled....I loved the mini apes on my triumph (had a tear drop tank and one of those old big harley headlights), and the double h bars on my old honda 305 superhawk...both felt really good - I like that hand positioning.....to me, the fury grip is too horizontal and too wide...not anywhere near unbearable, but I'd much more enjoy a closer, narrower, angled grip position.

Like I said before, I don't like the high apes, never did....I'd love it if I could find a local fab shop around here (southern Mississippi) that could help me design and build a set of bars (without costing an arm and a leg). I haven't seen anything on the net that I'd like with the bike style yet.

I figured there were people on this forum that might have ideas/suggestions, even if changing the bars wouldn't rock their socks.

Believe me, I really do appreciate your input and all of you voicing your concerns over the possibility of ruining the lines of the bike.....I'm glad to see it and glad that ya'll are concerned enough to voice them...that's what I like about being on this forum - people are down to earth and treat others the same way.....nothing wrong with disagreeing or stirring the pot, imo.....still want different bars though! :)

Tony,

I saw that yellow one on Schroaders....not what I'm looking for, but thanks for trying to help! I'd like something that would line up with the forks, and be shorter....we are already seated down in the bike......I'd like something a couple of inches or so higher than the current grip level, narrower in width, and have a "ten o'clock to 4 o'clock" grip angle.......I have a dream......

I know there might then be issues with the stock speedo appearance, etc....but I bet it can be worked out somehow.....we put men on the moon, surely we can alter the bars and set up the speedo so it gives the bike a different, but likeable/acceptible appearance....all within reasonable budget constraints!!!!
