Am I the only one who would purchase a Fury Phantom edition if Honda were to release it? I have never been a fan of chrome. I love the rat bike look. Has anybody on here considered getting their motor and the side covers powdercoated black?

I currently own a Honda 599 and am torn between a Fury and a CB1100F, (if it gets released in the States), for my next bike. All I know is I definitely would head straight to the Honda dealer to trade in my bike if Honda released a Phantom edition Fury.

Seeing as how all the chrome on the fury is plastic, I'd be willing to bet Honda would raise the price of the "phantom" edition if they actually had to pay for all that powdercoating. That being said, I think it's an interesting idea and I've seen spraypaint at Lowes/Home Depot that dries with a rough texture similar to powdercoating. Assuming it (the paint) could be found that handles the heat, I wonder if it might make a good winter project for a "normal" fury... You might be onto something there.... I really like the look of the Night train and the Midnight warriors from yamaha. I'm thinking that the concept could carry over well to the fury. Personally, my sportbike is carbon fiber accented everywhere and looks blacked out from a distance. Therefore, I wanted all the chrome on the fury so I had something with a different look. But again, I think you might be onto something. Any good Photoshoppers out there??? Lets see what it might look like.

I have Kurt from Sumo-X blacking out my motor as well as a bunch of other parts as we speak. It is a bit of a project ahead but will post pictures as I get things done.

Powdercoating the engine would require it to be totally torn down, coated and reassembled. Painting it would work tho, takes somewhere around 20 hours, here is a link, Well, I did it!! - VTXOA the sidecovers and engine covers are plastic, so they can't be powdercoated, but can be scuffed and painted.
