Gas station is a rip off......run from it
Yes, it was leaning over onto the kickstand and every now and then I give it a nudge with my hip to knock the air out of the tank... So the numbers are pretty much exact... probably could have squeezed out a little more into it as well if I was sitting on it, but it wouldn't have been an extra .143 gallons worth?...was your bike resting on its kick stand sideways to where the tank wasnt level when it filled? I sit on my bike when I fill up to make sure it fills up level, just a thought,,I havent gotten above 100 miles on a tank yet,,I seem to be filling up at 80-90 miles on my trip meter
lol red,,I know some bikes lean funny at the pumps,,I am using 93 in mine,,and i just hit 400 miles,,was out riding today, I was a mechanic so Im prone to never letting a tank run dry,,just something thats a habit,,really can hurt anything fuel injected, clog injectors, so I guess its something thats in my blood,,hated when drivers in my shop would run there truck empty and it would suck all that crap in the bottom of the tank in the lines. I never ran my bikes hard,,I rode,,I rarely go over 70,,Yes, it was leaning over onto the kickstand and every now and then I give it a nudge with my hip to knock the air out of the tank... Oh, that was exactly at 141.8 miles when I ran out of gas and the light came on @ 115 miles.
Haven't gotten above 100 miles on a tank yet? What are you doing to that poor thing... lol... Then again, you just bought it... so maybe break in? What octane gas are you using?
Thanks for info...my light usually comes on around 110 to 115 miles, now I know the limit.Oh, that was exactly at 141.8 miles when I ran out of gas and the light came on @ 115 miles.Haven't gotten above 100 miles on a tank yet? Who in the world told you to use 93 octane in your gas tank, our manual says 86!?... get it as close as you can in the US system... Please read this thread here... What Octane Gas in the VTX? I saw it come on today when I was going to work, when I first got on the highway... I was also running late, so I didn't have a chance to stop and get gas. (I usually fill up around 100-110 miles or so, but was tired last night) During my lunchtime, I went out to get some taco's and on the way back to the gas station (cause my hunger was more thoughtful in my body than how much gas I had...) I ran out of gas.James, I was just wondering. You mentioned the low fuel light previously came on and I was wondering did you intentionally run it as long as you could to see how far you could go and how much the tank held or was there another reason? I've always made it a intentional habit to just refuel after 100 mile.
How many degree's does your service tech have compared to an engineer at the Honda Factory?my dealer techs told me to use the 93? Donnie has been my service tech since 03, he is the only one to touch my bikes, never have had any issues with him,, Guess Ill have to open my manual,,lol![]()

I thought I might have been missing something but I guess its good to know for all of us the absolute bottom line miles that you can actually get out of a tank before you are walking to the gas station. Hope it didn't spoil the days ride to much and it could have been a lot worst.I saw it come on today when I was going to work, when I first got on the highway... Yea agreed, lucky for me as it could have been worse... It just made me late coming back to work and now I am able to help some people figure out the bottom line to their tank...I thought I might have been missing something but I guess its good to know for all of us the absolute bottom line miles that you can actually get out of a tank before you are walking to the gas station. That's good to know... least I'm not the only one to notice the difference when I made the switch. Used to run 91 octane (Cali high) and I was backfiring a lot, even with the stock pipes on. Ran across that article one night as I was tired of the backfiring and I am glad that I did... BTW, if you go to that article and go one thread back, there is a TON of information there for DIY and Helper type posts.I get about 90-115 Miles before the light comes on and also depends how hard I ride her. I have made it 130+ on one tank also looking for a gas station.
I used to run 93 in all my Bikes, wheelers,Snowmobiles etc and one day I used 87 in my bike and it ran a lot better then with 93. I notice when I use high octane gas I smell gas more and the bike smokes when I get on it. I actually felt and noticed a big difference and now will use 87 only.
