Ok, went out for a little ride this evening, and did a once-around the bike, outta habit, wasn't really expecting to notice anything. I come around the right side of the bike and I notice the headlight has this oval-shaped *hole* in it, towards the bottom front right side. Thru which I can see the inside of the headlight nacelle, or shell, or housing, whatever.

I look closer and it's a scalloped opening; carefully cut so it's obviously supposed to be there, but I swear out of all the times I've looked at my bike I don't *remember* ever being able to see INSIDE the headlight housing before. Can I be that unobservant? Looks like I can see part of the inside headlight rim, and assorted metal edges of something or other.

So I look at the online parts fiche from honda and check the exploded headlight view ... there's some little part called the headlight rubber (I know, I know, but we'll let that slide for now :) - I'm thinkin' that must be some kinda plug or something that filled that hole before? I mean, a hole in the shell open to the elements? Something ain't right ...

Or have I really just failed to notice it before? On the plus side, I did keenly observe that the front wheel was still there ... :)

Can everyone else see inside there?

I just went and checked mine, and it is there too. There is a phillips head screw in there, looks like it would be some kind of adjustment for the headlight. I think I've noticed it before, but didn't pay much attention to it, and never realized it went all the way in like that.

It is supposed to be there. I have had the whole headlight apart. The "rubber" is a folded piece of rubber that prevents water from entering the rear of the headlight around the wiring.

Okay guys; thx for posting. I was somewhat concerned about it; half-convinced that there must have been some kind of plug, a rubber thing or maybe billet or something that must have fallen out. I'm just very surprised after all the times I looked at the thing that I never noticed it went all the way thru to the innards of the light. Wierd lol.

Also I have the kur switchblade front pegs and love them .
Good to hear Blu thx; think I"m gonna give them a try.

Watch out for this rubber piece though.. if you bend it too far back to get to the clip that's holding onto the light, it will break very easily... it felt like cheap rubber tbh and almost came apart in my hands... Just a heads up guys

"I'm just very surprised after all the times I looked at the thing....................".

The lesson here is, of course, that we probably shouldn't look too terribly closely at the things we cherish. I, for instance, always take off my glasses when I look at my wife. LOL.

Cheers

Beware, it's not always what you can see that hurts you!!
I try to wear my sunglasses as much as possible while talking with my wife. Since she does most of the talking, I figure she won't notice I'm actually sleeping ;)

Redspawnsilver is dead on! I pulled at the rubber gaurd while switching out my bulb and the rubber broke into several pieces. It was a bit chilly out, which likely didn't help, but I'm thinking this should never have happened. Will be ordering another and will hope it's of better quality. Odd.

Yea, I'm going to tell my service guys about it too, so they can put in a report to Honda about it.. But, on the bright side... it's only 12.95 for the part, on the bad side... it's only 12.95 for the part!
