Help!!!Radiator coming on a lot/clanking noise

Previous owner of an 06 vtx1300, bought my new bike 2 weeks ago, 2023 bumble bee fury baby. Got it with 1 mile. Hit 110 miles today, ragged on it a little today, opened her up for the first time. Brought her home to put away and noticed the radiator fan was running, let it go for a minute to cool down, kicked off, kicked back on, kept it running almost 15 minutes and noticed the fan was kicking on and off almost twice a minute, maybe a little longer. I'm in northern michigan and today was our first day above 70, I feel like this isn't normal even with heavy abuse which wasn't what I did, granted I tested her out decently today. Any insight on how often the fan should kick on when the bike is just sitting there? I know the Temps for on and off, but why would it be coming on so much? Hoping I don't have to take the thing in because my closest dealer is 2 hours away, but I don't want to hurt the bike I've had my eye on for 10 years either. Any help would be awesome. Love the community so far and thanks for having me.

I waited 2 hours, fired her back up, let it run at idle till hot, after the initial fan run it kicked back on again within 2 to 3 minutes, this seems excessive to me, especially on a brand new bike, maybe im.being a freak about it? Idk, I also noticed a weird obnoxious noise/rattle/clacking which I believe is coming from the crank case an increases with rpms which left a nasty exhaust burn on the top of me head trying to listen and throttle a bit.

Check coolant level and oil level to make sure they are fine. Have you got anything hanging on your ignition key? It can cause a rattle, clanking sound from vibration while idling or wind blowing it while riding, from contacting the cover.

I had a sticking thermostat on a new bike once. The dealer called me to advise of the fix, boil the thermostat until it opens and put it back in the bike. I thought the dealer must have been drinking on the job but I took the thermostat out and put it in a pot of water and boiled it till it opened up. Then I reinstalled it in the bike and as crazy as I thought it was it worked. The fan went on and off as expected after that. That said, as you have a new bike I'd take it back and get it fixed under warranty unless it's difficult to get to your local Honda dealer.

levels are fine, just the key, not even a ring on it, the rattle was while the bike was parked at idle, and increased with rpms. I would call it a deep rattle or clacking sounds and it sounds like it's coming from under the bike around the crank case.

The operation is fine, it's how often that is concerning.

The fan on/off isn't that concerning, figure it's a small radiator and when the engine hits the temp limit the radiator thermostat opens and the engine heat is dumped there, BUT there's almost no airflow when not moving so after the radiator heats up the ECU sees the temperature sensor is indicating the radiator coolant temp is "hot" and turns on the fan to cool it off. I've used a Fluke IR gun and Fluke liquid temperature probe when resetting the IAC and the fan on/off on my bike was normal. Of course you could get a liquid probe that can be immersed in coolant off eBay for far less money and you'll have a reasonable idea of what's going on at idle (the accuracy should be "close enough" figuring Honda temperature sensors are "really, really good" but not "perfect" and all you need is "close" as it's a temperature range).

The rattling is concerning. With big V-Twins (in my opinion) you should own a large bottle of threadlock and use it religiously. And torque wrenches. It could be a cover that needs to be pushed in, and holding a roll of paper towel to your ear and pointing the opening at the sound will both make you look like a goof and a genius at the same time. (well, it does for me)

TEKTON 1/4 Inch Drive Click Torque Wrench (10-150 INCH-lb.)
(i religiously use this tiny one--it saves a lot of threads from getting stretched by my big meathooks and ham-fisted wrenching)

TEKTON 3/8 Inch Drive Click Torque Wrench (10-80 foot-lb.)

I've had my fury for a little over a month, I put 1,998 miles on her so far. This is my first motorcycle and my first ride was with my brother and his harley, I kept hearing a whistle and I thought it was him or someone in the distance. Took me two days of riding wondering who tf keeps whistling, it was the radiator kicking off and on hahaha full face helmet threw the sound. But yeah mine kicks on all the time as well, I figure if it messes up I got the warranty. If you find anything come of it let me know or us

It’s funny because most experience the same thing, while mine is hardly on…. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I could not hear mine, if it ever came on...

Get a louder exhaust and never be bothered again.

I'd be more concerned if it either didn't come on, or never went off. The fact that it's coming on and going off sounds like normal operation to me.

Like Admiral Hedgehog said, it's a small radiator and there's no airflow while it's not moving. I often notice my fan coming on after a long ride on a hot day when I stop to open the shed doors to park it. Sometimes I let it run till it shuts off. Sometimes I get tired of waiting and just shut it off. Figure it'll cool down soon enough with the engine not running.

If it only clanks when the fan is running I would check the fan itself.
