Got the black Fury yesterday and put 267 miles on her...

I have the backrest/sissy bar and the spoiler/led. Literally had a hard time keeping her under 85 on the interstate......stopped for gas 3 times and got a bunch of "nice ride" comments...

My newbie observations:

Handles nice, once I got used to the more forward controls on it....always had standard footped locations and when I first started out on the bike, I raised my legs when it started moving and put my feet down on nothing but air...had to look for the pegs:eek: but once I got used to them, it was all good...I rode around the home depot parking lot next to the Brookhaven shop to get used to her...then hit the road....

Feels rough (vibration from engine) but I figure once I break it in it will smooth out. Unfortunately, it's supposed to rain here all week.... Throttle hand kept getting numb from vibration and grip.....don't know if any aftermarket stuff might help with that....Bike tracked well, even on uneven surfaces where they were going to pave the road.....Feet/knees got tired, but were ok when I just stretched out my legs and propped them on top of the footrests......seat felt better then too.....need to get some sort of foot relief mod on it....any suggestions?

Ran it at night, love the spoiler/led.....but need to change the headlight bulb...I saw where someone mentioned an h4 ge nighthawk bulb, but for the life of me, I couldn't find it on the site...any help in finding where I can get one would be appreciated!! Had a hard time seeing the speedo display at night...any way to brighten it up? Love the tail light set up, bright, very visible...but think I need to get the setup where you can have the rear signals shine all the time for visibility...we have a bunch of idiots on the road down here.

I know many of you will disagree, but I like the rear tag set up as it stands now.....I sat on the porch swing last night and was eyeballing the bike with it's lights on and looking at the ergonomics and shape and it looks good to me. May change my mind later. Pipes could be more throaty and deeper sounding, but I don't like the idea of changing the factory intake/efi set up until I've ridden it for a while....I think one needs to break it in with the original setup and then decide if any performance changes need to be made....

Anyone get a butty buddy seat yet? My wife hates the passenger seat. I was wondering if the butty buddy would work with the sissy bar set up??

Nice to be an Fury owner and a member here!!!

I noticed on the highway/Freeway my feet and legs got a little sore also with all the wind forcing my feet of the pegs. Hooking them under the break and shifter helps but then tires out the knees. But all in all a very sweet ride. My G/F hates the rear seat also so I will prolly have to get a different one before next year.

Vibration: I'm not getting any real vibration when riding but I only have 215 miles on her.

Can you post some pics please I would like to see your set up as I have a stock Black one also. :)

Welcome, and congrats on a fine choice of a bike.

Add a wrist rest to your grips. This will allow you to relax your grip and maintain speed. The tingle will go away almost immediately. Check out Kuryakyn ISO grips, and Throttle Boss. Nice setup (I use these).

Did a little research on the headlight bulb issue a while back. The general opinion is the "Philips X-Treme Power H4" bulb is the way to go if you don't want to change to an HID setup (have not tried this yet).

Philips X-treme power 80% brighter than a standard halogen lamp and 100% road legal. xtreme

Welcome, you are now BONAFIDE.. lol

Yes I noticed the vibration on the hand right away after riding..
The suggestion above about the Kurykyn ISO grips do work. No more hand vibration sensation..
Break it in hard before the 600 mile check up..
I waited until that service before I made any exhaust and EFI mods

Another Black Fury on the road... right on..:)

NickFury,

I love the set up, check out Tony Fury's link to see pics of what it looks like....I still have a pic of his bike on my desktop.....will eventually get a pic of mine (once I remove the stickers, etc) and replace his on the desktop. Guess I'll try the buttybuddy and see if it will fit on the bike with the sissybar setup...appears that no one else has tried it yet.

Appreciate the comeback!
Bob

Maineiak,

Really do appreciate the great info!!! I'll get the bulb and the iso grips with the throttle boss ( I see they have the boss on both sides) as you and Tony Fury mentioned. Nice to have a good group of people around to help, cuss and discuss :)

Thanks much,
Bob

Dillon, I followed your mod for the HID in your threads....was good stuff. I've gotta watch my cash right now, so I am picking and choosing what I can to do a little here and there....let me know if you have any heat/melt issues with it....I saw somewhere that someone was concerned about the heat in compact places.....I don't know much about that stuff, so I'm relying on this forum for help. If the bulb doesn't do it for me, I'll hit you up on the HID.....I'm not liking my headlight beam right now....the spoiler led's make it look weak.

Thanks for the help!

Welcome to the Fury family... I just wanted to add that the ISO grips with a throttle boss really does help. Also for the leg fatique, I have been working with a company out here in CA with a reasonable forward control change. He is using the stock master cylinder and adding a piece of linkage for the shifters. Is simple and looks good. L&R should have the final product done in a couple of weeks and have a price, but he said he is most likely looking at a little over $300. Will post some pics when the final products on.

Tony,

LOL!!! Re: Bonafide.....Yeah, that gal in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" reminds me of some of my kinfolk. :) Don't know why, but I like that movie.

I asked the salesman about breaking it in, he really didn't have any input....is there a favored method? Long ago, they wanted you to not tax the motor too much.....I was doing 85 on the interstate and would have done more, but didn't know if it would hurt the engine....I had it miss on me in first a couple of times, guess I hit the rev limit or something.....I've never had an efi bike..like the responsiveness though.... :) Bummer that rain and crappy weather is projected for the entire week here.....I'm gonna do some de-stickering (guess I use a blow dryer???)....Also never had a water cooled motorcycle...haven't located the place you put the stuff in ....velcroed the manual back where it belongs and haven't gotten it back out yet...tight fit. Haven't taken the ignition cover off yet....have some extra fuses I'll store somewhere on the bike when i figure out where to do it.

Appreciate your help and your pics of your bike.....they kept me inspired, as I said above, I use one of them as a desktop on my computer. Gotta love the black and chrome.....

Thanks again,
Bob

Woodenhorse,
I originally noticed the vibration in the grips, and seat getting uncomfortable on longer rides. Have you tried to loosen/soften up your rear shock load?

I've noticed that after I soften up he rear shock, almost ALL of those vibrations go away. If I stiffen in back up, I get more vibration again. Just an observation, but seemed to cure my "numb ass syndrome"

Welcome & Congrats on the new bike, and I'm sure you will love it as much as the rest of us love our Fury's!

Funny that movie came to mind when I saw that word in the title.. lol :)

I'm glad my pic's helped. I love the black and chrome.
Just got back from a cool ride this evening..
I am real happy with the bike now, I no longer get cut off like before with the factory mufflers sound.
It's a lot more responsive, and can't be any happier.
Hey vote for me for October Fury of the month..
Enjoy your new Fury..

No problem man, that's what it's all about.

Think about hanging on to that extra bulb... probably need it someday, and you'll just have to pay shipping all over again (unless you found it locally). Would like to know if you like it though.

Search eBay for "Honda Fury". There are good deals occasionally. Also click on our sponsors here on the forum.

Good luck, and have fun with the mods. There are tons of ideas here.

Wesley Chapel is basicly on the the north edge of Tampa, FL. Lived around Tampa almost my whole life. Love it here in Florida!!!! But we get our fair share of rain too  (almost every afternoon in the summer). Rained on my today riding home from work as a matter of fact. But, unlike up north, we are just starting to come into perfect Riding Season :D

personally, i think the Fury rides like a Cadillac! i also own an '88 Suzuki Intruder 750, with only 8000 miles, and after riding the Fury, it's hard riding the Suzie lol! i'm so much more stretched out and comfy on the Fury, and i've never felt any vibration in it (except after i put on the RAW slip ons without baffles, now i feel a little rumble). it rides a little more rough on uneven roads than what i would like, but oh well. does anyone know if the wrist rest thingies work on stock grips? oh yeah, WELCOME!!!!
