Install Question for Run/Turn/Brake Controller KY-4710

I just bought the Kury Run/Turn/Brake controller, and am having some difficulty with install. After watching the video on cruisercustomizing.com I was able to locate the 'boot' that contains the wires for the right and left signals, and the brake light. The problem is that the connectors in the boot (located under the fender above the rear tail light) are much different than in the video; they each have a second wire running adjacent to them into the same connector, and there's a fourth wire connector on the controller (for the rear running light I assume) which would be left unfilled.

Have any of you installed this controller? I'm wondering if I'm looking in the wrong places, and I could sure use some words of wisdom.

The boot contains 3 plugs blue (right side) and orange (left side ) t/s and a white license plate light. These plugs have a (blue, orange, and brown) hot and a green ground. There is another plug attached to the rear that has 3 pins/wires I think it is white and has green/yellow, a brown, and a green, these are brake, run, and ground. The plugs are different because the video is for a VTX, the Fury uses mini plugs. From what I saw in the video the 4 wires into the r/t/b are running (brown), right (blue), left (orange), and brake (green/yellow). I do not believe there is room back there for the Kury unit, you may have to follow the harness back under the seat to hook it up,
Thanks for the reply. Shortly after starting this thread though I went out and tried to install it in the back. Big mistake.

There were a lot of wires in the harness up front, which intimidated me, and not much room up there. I laid the controller in place above the existing wiring in back, and it seemed there was room, so I snipped the wires and connected the hot ones to the appropriate connectors on the controller, then hooked up the power. The result was no lights in back at all, and the starter won't work. What a mess. Who knew there was anything in the back that might affect the starter!?

One thing I was wondering was, do the ground wires (those adjacent to the blue, orange, green/yellow, and brown ones) have any purpose once the juice is all going through the controller, which has two ground wires of its own?

I'm so frazzled now - I guess I'll leave it until tomorrow.

I don't believe there is anything in the back to prevent the bike from firing up, you don't need to turn the bike over to check functionality of your lights (fyi). I'm assuming from what you're saying there may be a short somewhere, which in turn probably popped a fuse. the only wires which run back to the tail light are just for the tail light, nothing else. double check your connections, it's very easy to confuse the "brake's" wiring. Did you disconnect the battery before doing all this as the instructions probably state?

use the search button at the top of the page: type in WIRING GUIDE.

choose the post by StPeteAFB on L&M Fender and Radiantz light. Perhaps his pics and examples may help you out.

Made my life easier.

All those green striped ground wires can be hooked together and terminated at a bolt on the frame...I used one under the seat near the rear spring mount

Hope that helps

Yes all the green wires from the t/s and lic plate light need to be hooked up or you will not have any lights, they are ground wires. DO NOT HOOK THE GREEN WIRE WITH THE YELLOW STRIPE TO GROUND> It is the hot from your brake switch.
Much obliged guys! Thanks to your sage advice I was able to get the install completed today - and believe it or not I was able to tuck everything in that tiny space under the fender (above the tail light) in the back. StPeteAFB's wiring post was very helpful (thanks to ctc6698 for pointing it out!).

The reason I didn't get any power after the first install attempt was that I hadn't connected all the ground wires (which I never should have cut in the first place). Kudos to Clueless on that one - I obviously haven't any electrical experience, and was oblivious to that necessity. I did disconnect the battery prior to doing the install, but reconnected it periodically to check and see if the lights were working. At some point I did blow a fuse (as ericegg01 suggested), so I used one of the spares provided in the fuse box. Eventually I got everything connected correctly. Thanks again!

If you don't mind though, I have another question -

I didn't hook up the load equalizer, mostly because I thought I wouldn't need it with stock lights (I don't have any LED's or light mods). After I got everything put together though, I realized that the flash rate for my turn signals is about double what it should be. All the bulbs seem to be working, so I don't think that's the cause. I watched the install vid again on cruisercustomizing.com, and his lights flash fast too, but someone commented below the vid that it didn't look like his load equalizer was working.

I'll tear everything apart again tomorrow and try the load equalizer if I have to, but I'd rather not since finding room for it would be a pain. So I guess what I'd like to know is -

- Will a fast flash rate have any negative effects if I just leave it as-is?
- Does the fast flash rate indicate something is connected incorrectly or that a bulb is out or some other problem, since it's occurring while using only stock lights?
- Is the fast flash rate normal when this particular device is installed?

Thanks in advance!

i just installed on my bike it took about 6 hours, the connections are in the tail light. i got a 6ft. pice of trailer wire (4) color type ,cut it in half removed the white from one the white wire went to the white plug and attched to tan wire (running light) the green/yellow is the brake light, the orange connector use the orange wire. the lt.blur connector use the lt.blue wire. splice the wire white wire to the end of the wire that comes out of the fender. i used but connectors .the wire with out the white wire i connected to the wire closet to the plug. i hid my mod and connected the trailer wires there. you also have to attched the black ground wire to the frame.it worked . the hard part is hiding the mod.and the black thing.
