Low&Mean Visit

Hi Ya'll,

So yesterday, I took a "road trip" to visit Low and Mean in Lake Havasu City. I spent all of yesterday afternoon with Chris and most of this morning. It was exactly 199 miles from my house to his shop. We installed the new lowering spring, along with the fork extenders, a new speedometer faceplate and a K&N billet air filter. (Pictures below).

My impressions??? The center of gravity is much lower and feels better to me, especially doing low-speed turns. Chris set the shock adjustment to the softest level, which works well for me. I don't have a back seat, so will never have a second rider. I weigh 190 and the ride home today was "smoother/softer" than the ride up yesterday. While riding home today, the traffic was very light on AZ St. Road 60, so I did some nice "S turns" at 65 MPH, and the bike felt perfect. I also bumped the speed up to the limiter at 100 MPH and that too, felt good (normal). (Please don't turn me in to the AZ DPS)....Ha Ha

I am very pleased at the final results. I hadn't planned on installing the fork extenders until I looked at his Fury in the shop. I'm glad I did now. So the bike is lower in the rear by 1 and 1/2 inches and the forks are extended nearly an inch upward (longer). It makes the bike look more "chopperish" (Is that a word??? I doubt it).

Chris has an excellent shop there, and is very customer oriented. All of his employees seem happy working for him. (That means a lot in my opinion, if the "team" likes what they are doing). He has a lot of new things forthcoming, I'll let him announce items from time-to-time here or on his website.

Don't be afraid to do business with that company.

Say,
any word on the new rear fender while you were there?
It's nearly finished. I let Chris chime in here when he has a chance.
where did you get the crooked cactus sissybar? :D
I just changed my plans from Lake Mead NV to Lake Havasu AZ to support my Arizona friends......:D..Boycott my A$$....

P.S. The bike looks awsome....:D
Black out the engine! With polished fins. I think that'd complete the bike

And remove those nasty VIN and tire pressure stickers! :p
If you don’t already have it in mind, I would suggest the Cannella risers. As mentioned in another thread, me and “NMUCat” went for a ride yesterday and when we changed bikes, it was the first thing I noticed. Your intake looks good.

Jimmy, Did Chris mention any word on the front fender and when it would be available?
looks awesome, I think the catus in the background in the first pic needs some vigra!

I saw the prototype fender on his blue fury. Looks awesome. Don't know when it'll be ready for sale, soon...I would guess.

I agree on the polished fins.....It would look even better.

ALL those nasty stickers are coming off today, THANKS !!!!!

Thanks Richard. The Cannella risers are next on my list. I agree. On a long ride like the one to Chris's shop, it would be more comfortable if the handlebars were back toward me an inch or so.
So how did you get the new speedo on? Did you have to remove the allen bolts from the underside? My new speedo face should be here by Wed. Any tips you could give after watching a pro do it would be fantastic. BIKE looks AMAZING!

I taped mine inside of the chrome battery cover just incase I ever needed them on the road

furyfun:
Search the forums here, there is a write up on how to do it.
(I think L & M did a video also)
Be careful with the needle. also do NOT seal it all back up until you power it up and ensure the needle is reset to zero properly.
You know when you turn on the key the needle pings to the far right and returns.. leave the cover off and plug it in to ensure you have it zero'd
T
sound advice. Thanks

I watched Chris do it. IT IS A VERY, VERY DELICATE OPERATION!!

Proceed s-l-o-w-l-y, and cautiously. It took him a couple of tries to get the speedo needle to line up properly.
If you get a chance, I think we'd all love to see a riding video with the lowering spring :)
