Yeah, I left the red ones on as I was afraid to damage the paint taking them off.

I hear they are leg burners is that true ???
They are hot, but the heat shields make it so that you don't instantly burn your leg if you touch them. I'm 5'8" and find no major issues as long as I take a bit wider stance on the right side. The growl these make is all worth it though. My Harley friends were drooling.

I've always loved the look of those pipes as the best choice for the fury but I just couldn't deal with the burns on the legs issues.
I rode it for a day without the heat shields on and that was certainly a concern. However once I put the heat shields on it really cut down on how much heat came through. Its definitely still hot, but I'm not afraid of burning my leg anymore.

oh yeah, those pipes define BAD ASS! I'll reconsider getting those--I wear jeans most of the time, anyway.
Most jeans arent made of 100% cotton any longer. I say this because i wont ride unless i have jeans on. Before i installed my new forward controls, i was having issues of my jeans touching the rear cylinders pipe and burning! My jeans now have a scortch mark, and cleaning the exhaust was a P.I.A.

So just to make sure I wasn't in buyer euphoria and ignoring any issues with the pipes I took the bike for a good long ride yesterday. We're experiencing a bit of a heat wave and the air temp was around 110F. I put about 300 miles of both highway and town riding on it. The only time I felt uncomfortable heat coming from the pipes was when I was stopped at a long stop light. The heat radiating upwards from the bend in the rear pipe started to get uncomfortable with my leg down. The only other time I noticed heat was in left turns as I squeezed my right leg to stay stable on the bike. It touched the heat shield, and was hot but nont unbearable.

If you're thinking of these pipes you must get the heat shields. Without them I surely would have burnt myself a few times. With them you can feel the heat when you touch them, but no burns. I'm happy with the purchase.

...and you may want to consider removing those unsightly passenger pegs--unless you're keeping the rear seat available as an option.

btw, my Vance&Hines have a real nice heat issue at stop lights, too. appears sir, that you got yourself a set of keepers!

I was noticing how awful that tube looked today. I'll be looking at tucking that away some how. I've still got the passenger pegs on as I haven't made up my mind on them yet. I've left them on so I can still give a quick ride in an emergency if need be.
