I'm considering sending my seat to Mean City. Who else has done this? I've seen that DeadSpider, Clueless and Chopped have done it. How did it turn out? Did it change your riding position? Can you ride longer with less pain? Which mod would you recommend for most comfort, but least change in riding position? Foam only, or gel only? Foam and gel together? Please help guys. This stock seat is keeping me from enjoying long trips and my group is considering a Florida run next Spring. Coming from SE, Kansas, that'll be quite a long journey.

I had my seat done there and they are professionals. They recommended only foam and no gel so that is what I went with. The seat is a lot softer and I am able to ride farther without my butt going numb. It was worth it.

With that said I am sending it back to be redone. The leather started bunching up in the front part of the seat and I want it a little softer. They said send it in and they will do it and send it out the same day they receive it.

Because I hate not being able to ride I bought another seat off of ebay for $100 to use when it is being modded.

Mean City Cycles

Please help guys.
Check with Allen at Mean City Cycles for recommendations unless you can find someone on this forum who has your body :D. Weight, height and butt width are critical factors so what's good for the goose is not good for the gander .

Sounds like they really build these seats around your specific body type, which of course makes sense. Their pricing seems to be incredibly reasonable. How long did it take for you to get your seat back after you sent it off?

Gel Pad?

Like mine a lot. Got the memory foam and gel insert.
I do not know anything about Mean City Seats. Years ago I took the cover off an aftermarket gel seat to have the seat recovered. I noticed a warning on the gel pad. The warning stated that the gel pad was not edible. This was not a concern to me, but I thought I would point it out.

Good to know. Everybody listen up. Please do not eat your gel pad. It is apparently not for human consumption.

You need to call and make an appointment, you pay a deposit at that time, send your seat a day or 2 before your appointment (maybe sooner if you are further away) it is up to YOU to get the seat there on time, They do it the day of the appointment and ship it back the next day. In my case I had an appointment for a Thursday I had a spare seat so I sent it about 1 week before, they called me on Monday BEFORE my appointment and said it was done, I paid the balance and had my seat on the next day. Think it was 165 dollars and well worth it.

I had mine redone with the Double Decker Memory Foam package. It feels way better than the stock setup. Ride time has been extended a good amount. Short rides are a very nice.

It does seem during longer rides the padding gets compressed all the way and it feels as if I am sitting on the seat pan. Just at the rear part of the seat right at the tailbone :/ But... it's usually time to fill up or close to it by then so its no big deal. A few minutes off the bike and it seems to fluff right back up. Please note it may be due to my weight lol I am a bit on the hefty side :p

Overall.... Great feel and quality. Highly recommended. Would have them recushion the seats in my truck too if they offered that service as well.
