My starter motor seams to be starting to overrun / making a whinning noise..

Bike only has 784miles..

anyone else have this problem??

Took it to the dealer on friday and they said does sound un normal. but ive had the bike 3weeks now and i know this only come into it after its first sevice friday afternoon....

As there are no other furys up at the dealer I can't even start another one up so that they can see the differance...

Maybe I'm missing something but if the starter doesn't sound right to you and your dealer has also confirmed that it doesn't sound normal why is he not replacing it. Its no skin off his back and it would be covered under warranty.

Second on Dave's statement... they should just replace it... Did they atleast take the starter out and bench test it? That process will allow them to see if the bendix is moving smooth and disengaging properly... Just a thought. You can do this with a vise and a set of battery cables... just hook the negative up to the casing and with the starter in the vise firmly just touch the positive lug with the positive cable end (do not connect)... as soon as the bendix extends fully remove the positive cable and see if the bendix springs back instantly... if it moves slow then you may have a bent shaft and it has to be replaced which should be under warranty. Just a note... you will get a spark when you touch the positive to the starter so be ready for it.

I got on the phone to honda UK this morning and told them im very unhappy that ive paid 12k for a bike my 6th brand new honda in 6 years and there dealer doesnt seam interested in my problem. The guy told me that he will phone the dealler get my bike lifted and a bike lift for me to ride while any and every work is completed.

Thats a much better reply that theres nothing to worry about.

The Fury uses the VTX1300 motor right? It's just fuel injected instead of carb. It makes sense that the VTX1300 would use the same starter.....

Ask the dealer to look up the part numbers. If they are the exactly same starter...the fury and the VTX1300 starters should sound pretty much exactly the same...

Doubt the Honda UK number will help you much in the USA

if the sound is definetly coming from the starter then they should replace it under warranty for sure.
