Well, I know there were a couple of people wanting to know what I thought of the C&C seat once I got it. For those of you who were betting on installation time, sorry, I didn't time myself. :D I chose the Fastback with no stitching and standard foam. However, when I got the seat, the paper work said, "300 lb. rider...use firmer foam".

Here is my honest opinion. As far as looks, it looks great; better than the stock seat in my opinion. Waaayyy more easy to get on and off than the stock seat. One screw and that's it. As far as riding distance, there was a huge improvement. With the stock seat I was in terrible pain by about 30-40 miles. My very first ride with the C&C seat was 85 miles non-stop and I felt I could've easily went on until I needed to refuel.

I am a little disappointed in overall comfort. The thing feels extremely firm. Perhaps it's just me, but I'm not used to such a firm seat on any bike. I am told by a few people that the firmness is necessary to increase riding time with less pain, so maybe because of my weight, this extra firm foam is what is needed to allow me to ride longer. I will be calling C&C to ask if I would be able to still ride as far with a softer foam.

Overall, it seems to be a great, high quality seat, and I do not feel like I wasted my $300.00. Even if I have to stay with the extra firm foam, I am still pretty satifisfied, because it's so much better than the crappy stock seat. :D

Hey Steveo, Glade to see you finally got the seat. As far as the stiffness I can tell you that I once owned a Corbin seat that I paid a lot of money for and when I got it it was hard as a rock also. After investaging as to why it felt so stiff I was told that It was normal for that seat to feel that way and it was made that way for a reason. I always thought it was a hard seat but I soon got over that aspect of it when I no longer had a sore ass after a long ride.

Dave, thanks for your input. That is more confirmation that a firm seat is necessary to stave off the sore ass syndrome. It's not that it's uncomfortable; it's just not soft and plush like I expected.

One more thing I forgot to add: This seat really feels "form fitting". It makes me feel more like I'm a part of the bike instead of just sitting on the bike. It's really a great seat.......and they got it to me in a week and a half after I called them!

So, it's better than stock but not as comfortable as you'd like?????
It's MUCH better than the stock seat. It depends on what you're looking for in a bike seat. From what I've been told, it may not be possible to have a soft, plush feel like your favorite chair, and still be able to stave off the sore ass on rides of any distance. If you like a firm seat, then you'll love the C&C. Like I said in my reply to Dave, it's not that it's uncomfortable, it's just more firm than I would like, but apparently that firmness is a requirement to keep your butt from getting sore on longer rides.

My ass was beginning to hurt just reading all your posts on seat discomnfort :p.

I'd say fugedabout the initial firmness and let your long distance ass be the judge. I believe that your seat with it's limited depth might bottom out using softer foam and that would make it harder :(.
I believe that's pretty much the consensus. Firmness is where it's at, baby! :D I believe this seat is going to be perfect for the distance rides. I'm sure I will get used to the firmness and be very glad that I bought this seat when my group goes on these long rides this year. ;):D

Also, yet one more thing I forgot to mention: When I first sit on the seat, I can feel myself very slowly sinking down just a bit as the seat forms itself to me. Same thing happened when I push my fist down into it. This firm foam is apparently just what I needed.

There seats do look nice and they have got to be doing something right because the are back up now three weeks behind with orders. They are experiencing some very good success on the HD forum as well as on the fury forum. Chuck can probably give you a better explanation about the firmness of the seat than I gave you but I think your going to find that they make it that way for a reason and like my previous Corbin seat after a short period of time you won't even notice it. I'm looking forward to getting my new seat. This stock seat just doesn't cut it for me and my back on the long ride.

Don't know about your back, but your ass is gonna' love the new C&C seat. ;) I called Chuck at C&C and mentioned about the firmness. He said it's like new shoes that will eventually break in, and the foam will break in and form to your body the more you ride it. I can already tell a difference. The more I ride, the better if feels. I'm gonna' love this seat. Like Tony Fury said, this is one of the best mods to do.....unless you're happy with the stock seat.

It's up to you, buddy. ;) I just know I'm much happier with this seat than the stock seat. :) I would be curious to know what you think of it, but if you're not sure, don't get it. Maybe Mustang will make a pretty good seat. I'm very curious to see what they come up with. I just didn't want to wait that long. :D
