im a honda dealer in ms. we sent the wheels, fork tubes, diff brace, kickstand, diff and front wheel spacers to a chrome shop in cali. turn around was less than 4 weeks. got the diff and rear wheel back first. we installed a elite 3 240 tire with no modifications and we still had room. the chroming all together was over 700 total shipping and all

Thats less then I got quoted for just the wheels. Who do you use for a chrome shop??

i will have to ask my parts man tomorrow, they smmoth the wheels of all casting. they came out great. now i'm waiting on all of the front to make it

That's just gorgeous !
I'd like to hear about how it rides with the 240 once you've got it all together.
It's going to be a really nice looking bike when you're done with it.

So let me make sure I understand something right...
You put a 240/40-18 Elite 3 tire on the STOCK WIDTH Fury rim???
I thought it would fit... but I read that others said it wouldn't....

Depends what you define "fit" as. A 240 tire can be installed on the stock wheel..yes. But will it be 240mm wide....NO!!! It will be pinched by the narrow stock wheel and only be about 210mm wide. If air pressure is lost while you are riding you run the risk of the tire's bead popping off the rim. Manufactures designed 240's to be used with a 8-9" wide wheel.
I am amazed that a dealer would install a 240 on the Fury and sell it that way, purely for the liability issues.

The tire of course is not the full width due to the rim. When I blew the beads out on the rim they popped real loud as it does with any tire. I've installed larger tires on the stock wheels for years. I've worked for dealerships for 15 years now, I would not jeopardize a customers life, let alone my own. I personally ride this bike as a demo.

My question still stands...have you ever lost tire pressure at 85MPH on this setup. It's your life do whatever you want with it. Are you telling prospective customers that you are running the tire outside the manufacturer's specifications before they ride your demo? Or are you making that decision for them?

Larger wheel?
Chrome looks great! I take it a larger wheel will not fit to get the full benefit of the bigger tire?
