OIL CHANGE

I found out today, that they want $90 to change the oil on my Fury, WOW!!!!!

I purchased a 1500lbs, motorcycle jack from Harbor Freight, 4 quarts of oil of Lucas 10W40 sync blend, and tomorrow I will go buy the filter. They were going to charge me $60 bucks for labor, after I purchased the oil and filter, that’s amazing..

I pay less for my Vette after I buy the oil and filter, what a racket…

I need to save my money for my new C&C solo seat

Cool man, maybe I sould be changing my own oil from now on.
I do my own oil changes and that is the only way to go if you are able. I would suggest a full synthetic oil and not a blend and once you go syn. --stay syn.

Full Synthetic costs a little more but I am sold on it.

Werd!

I use Castrol Syntec in my truck and Amsoil in my ATVs. The moto will be getting the same treatment next service.
500 mile dealer service

when i bought my fury from the dealer they told me i had to bring the bike back to them at the 500 mile mark for oil change in engine and drive shaft. Then to check my valve sets for proper seating. Anyone else get told the same thing?

How can i get my photo to post on my reply instead of a question mark?

Thanks

Yep. Told that and did it. Valve job can only be done (according to my dealer) when bike is completely cold. Had to leave it overnight. Very little adjustment there.
sounds good thanks painter. nice to know that the dealer wasn't trying to stiff me for $500.00 for the service check and oil change.

Where did the $500 come into the picture?

Yeah. Where did that come in???? I think it ran about $150 total for the complete 1st service including the Valve adjust.
Anybody know what regular brand oil filters will work for replacement? I'd prefer not to purchase the overpriced honda filters and find one by Wix or Bosch. I see Wix 51365 works for other VTX1300 bikes, so that should probably work.
even with full synthetic make sure it is motorcycle oil.if your oil dosent have the clutch additiv you could be asking for trouble.ride safe

Holy Crappola......Somethings wrong with that dealer......Mine has $19.95 for everything....oil, filter and labor......
I plan on doing my own oil changes also an will be switching also to full synthetic but I was unaware of a special synthetic for motorcycle only. Any one know of the better choices for synthetic for motorcycles.

That is about what the oil alone costs.

For those that want to do it themselves

I know....I asked him how he does it, and his answer was they buy the oil in bulk form.....big drum....he passes the savings on to his customers.
Changing your own oil isn't that hard. My five year old son helps me work on the bike and cars all the time.
My 600 mile service was $179, Oil and filter suggestions are appreciated since I will be doing this myself.

Get the K&N filter. It has a nifty hex head on it so you can take it off with a normal wrench. And if you want to look really awesome get the chrome one.

And the link to the K&N page
