I finally broke down and ordered me a new helmet last night. I could not find a vendor in the US, so it's coming out of the UK. Right at $80 for shipping, but I think it's worth it since you will not see many like it if any at all. It is styled after a pilots helmet, and since I am a pilot, I had to have one.

$350. shipped. It was 209.90 British Pounds, and when Paypal did the conversion, it came out to right at 350. 49.90 Pounds was just for the shipping. It will take 3 weeks for it to arrive. I can't wait.

Dude, wear your fireman helmet, or get an old leather fireman helmet. Back in the late 80's, I was a firefighter before I got into aviation. I used to fly on my days off to build time, and I wore an old leather fireman helmet when I rode my bikes. I did get pulled over a few times, but now, there's alot not wearing DOT helmets. Probally wouldn't bother you now. The kind I wore on duty had the flip down visor/shield so there you go, it would be useful too.

Is that a 'ROOF' helmet by any chance ? One of those ones with the detachable chin bar ?

It is an OSBE Tornado Fighter Pilot styled helmet, not DOT approved, but has every regulatory approval for Europe.

Nice... looks like quick disconnect chin strap too. I wish more manufacturers used them.

I actually wear a leather at work! That would be pretty funny though! If the Chief caught word or when the cops finally got me I would be in some trouble. I could already here the CHP,"of all people you should know better". I was planning on taking a pic riding behind the station with my helmet and a bunker jacket for fun!

All my years riding a sportbike and getting hit with rocks being spit up from cars and trucks I don't want to take one to the face! All the motorcycle wrecks I have been too, the guys with skull caps have pretty much been the worse!

Stan, You know I have been thinking of doing the leather F/F helmet. I have mine from my old day as a Volunteer (Up North)and the county when to new yellow helmets that they wear now. I was wondering what a LEO or other people would say. I think it would be cool!!

A friend of my has a simular helmet he got at a HD dealership His is gloss black and has HD logo on it. Its pretty cool looking. I'll find out the manufacture get back to you all

A non DOT approved helmet is just that, no matter what it looks like. It would be a simple fine. But if you live in FL, you are not evan required to wear a helmet, so I say Ride on!
