Don't know if anyone has tried it yet but was wondering if anyone has had that grey paint on the wheels stripped off and had them polished. I just taped a small 1/2 x 1/2 section of my rear rim behind the brake rotor (so its not noticable) and sprayed a dab of aircraft paint remover a couple of times, lightly sanded it and then polished it with mothers billet polished and it came out looking pretty good. Whenever it gets too cold to ride down here i might try to do both rims, but im in TX so that will be around january. Anyone try polishing or chroming these wheels yet?

suprisingly when i stripped that grey paint off the wheel sanded a little bit and polished it came out very smooth and shiny. but if i could find someone to chrome them for cheap id much rather go that route.

It can be done. My dealer did a set for a blue Fury they sold, I saw them in person and they looked awesome (IMO, the rear hub needs to be chromed, or powdercoated black as this draws away from the nice chrome wheel, again IMHO).

At least one member on the forum, LarryLegend, has had his stock wheels chromed also and posted a thread with pics http://www.furyforums.com/forum/fury-appearance/801-my-chromed-wheels-pics.html

Yes, my stock rims were stripped and triple dipped. It is a must have for the Fury IMO. The price is right too - a fraction of the cost of purchasing new chrome rims.

Ride safe all!

It does look sweet in person!!! The chrome really brings out the lines in the rims on each spoke. Makes them resemble blades IMO. Man, just thinking about it is making me want to get them done now. Already been talking with my dealer about this, just have some other mods that I want to finish up first

Either leave them stock or chrome them. If you strip the paint off and polish them, they will pitt very easily and not look very good. Had a buddy do it and he has regretted it ever since.

Chromed Rims Available

There is a shop doing chroming of Fury wheels on eBay. cbrmatt is the eBay name for the vendor. You send them your wheels and they chrome YOUR rims, and return YOUR rims to you.

Turn around time is 4 weeks from when they receive your rims. Bearing service is also included at NO CHARGE ! ! ! The cost? $999 plus shipping of the rims to the company. I have no financial interest in the company nor am I employed by them. I pass this along because of the interest in chromed wheels and the appearance of this company's product. Take a look at the photos!

His ads on eBay says the following:ALL the rims you get from Performance EDGE include installed chrome valve stems and ALWAYS include bearing service at no charge!

Our rims are chemically stripped, then completely polished. Even the rough cast areas of the rim too. The rims then go through a five (5) layer chroming process.

Our rims are plated: nickel, copper, semi bright nickel, bright nickel, and then chrome. Prior to each layer of plating, each rim is additionally polished with a buffing wheel. This ensures that each layer is as smooth as possible, giving you a final HEXAVALENT chrome layer that looks ''WET''. Its the truth, our customers named our rims for us.....

''Wet Chrome''
''Liquid Chrome''

Only from Performance EDGE. The best chrome rims you will find anywhere in the country, guaranteed.

Based on the attached photos, I just sent them my rims. I'll post photos when I get them back.

Dang those look good!!!! That does sound a little pricey though
Mine were done for $795.00 including all labor. Turnaround was 3 weeks. For the entire job, I do not think this price and even up to around 1K is too much. That Ebay ad looks good but again you are sending them out somewhere and hoping for the best. Obviously taking them to a shop where they can perform the task then reinstall for you makes the most sense. If anyone is in the NY area and wants further info, send me a PM. The shop I did it at is in the Bronx - but they sent them out to NJ. I do not know the actual chrome dipper as they seem to be very secretive for some reason.

Chroming the rims is easily one of the best mods.

The wheels look excellent. That will be one of my next major mod's.
I'm thinking about having them send the final drive gear cover out at the same time to have it powder coated black to match the swing arm.
That and the torque arm underneath it.

I was curious if anyone has had this done this or painted it. I would like to see some pic's.:D
I guess I could try some paint shop on the computer to see what it would look like.

My local dealer quoted me $500 when I bought my Fury to have the wheels chromed. Talked with them today, they will still do it for that price, which IMO is as good a price as you'll find for both rims to be done. Turn around is between 2-3 weeks. Saw a previous set that they had done and put on another bike, and was definitely a quality job!

BTW, Clueless, they did grind off all lugs, markings, etc on the rims so that they were a completely smooth chrome surface when finished.

That price you are stating at $500 is insane. I cannot see how a dealership who acts as the middleman can charge such a cheap price for two rims to be stripped and dipped, however, if you can get that price ...... you gotta do it instantly. That is probably what the dealer pays and they aint makin' any money out of that deal. I thought the price I got was great and yes, they did grind off all lugs, etc. Anyway, good luck with that and I hope you go for it as that price is Bananas - WOW.
