I'm wondering what other military people are doing as far as where they are putting their post decals, did you make a small bracket or did you buy one?

I'm in a position right now where I have the tools and materials to build my own. Since I'm deployed I don't really know where I would even attach them since I don't have my bike in front of me so any idea's are welcomed. Right now I have them stuck on the black plastic grill cover at the top but when I get home I have an Irate skull grill cover to put on and need to find another place for my decals, the decals need to be in a place that's fairly easy for the gate guards to see.

Any idea's on where I could bolt on a small decal plate would be appreciated, I'm open to idea's so post away. Also post any dimensions that you have. I believe I would need at least 4 inches wide and 6 inches long to properly display the decals.

Thanks!

Make you an aluninum bracket and polish it then mount it under the triple tree where the little curly Q's were that held the wires. Only place I can think of right now.

I did put what size of the decals, must have overlooked it. there are 3 decals and all together they are like 4 inches wide <top to bottom> and about 6 inches long <left to right>, each post is different I believe, but that's approximately what mine are.

Kiowa... everyone almost always asks me where my decal is... I took a piece of plate just big enough for the decal to fit on... drilled three holes in the plate (two on top and one on the bottom) and zip tied it to the frame right on the frame just under the fuel tank... where the frame has a triangle shape. Have you ever worked with bismarks cabinets... the old metal storage containers for bolts and parts? I took a divider plate out and flattened it and that is what I used... I will try and take a couple of pics today and put them up for you, but it is really clean and hiden, unless you have to find it or know that there is one on the bike and look for it.

I appreciate that CB, sounds like a good spot and I'll try that, don't know how Ft. Campbell is going to be with zip ties but I'll find out lol, worst they can say is change it, figured since I was oversea's and had the tools and time I would make one instead of buying one and save a few bucks, thanks!

I mounted mine on the lower fork by the brake caliper. Took a common angle bracket, drilled it out, and then bought a peice of steel plate at Lowes, cut to fit the sticker.

Thats a good idea also Gary, do you think that a flat piece of steel would fit there instead of having it angle out, trying to conceal it as much as possible? Also is that using one of the bolts on the lower fork that was already there? how big is that hole for the bolt? Like I said I can make them while I'm here so I can make a couple different ones and see which one I like best, thanks for the alternative choice!

What do you mean you don't do decals anymore Predator? Your retired Military? I probably won't need them after I retire as I don't really shop on post now, only thing I really buy on post to save money is gas, which can be 5 cents cheaper.

I do believe that the Air Force stopped using stickers and went to 100% ID checks at the gate. I know that is what our support base, Dyess AFB, does.

Oh okay, well the Army has 100% I.D. check and you have to have a post decal on your windshield/vehicle.

Yeah I was wondering about the zip tie issue as well but have never had a problem in the last year with it... I have black ties holding the plate on and sprayed the plate black to match the frame. I also put rigging tape on the back of the plate so it was not metal to metal on the frame to try and reduce scratching of the bike. Hope the pics help out.

I wish I was back, I still have like 60 days left, figured in my down time that I would build a decal bracket since we have metal laying around and all the tools to do it. I'll be a busy man putting on all my toys when I get back and trying to get some miles in since I only got 800 on it before it got cold last year. Anyways, thanks brother for the idea on where to put the decal bracket, have a good one.

Stickers

Hey I don't know about your guys forts. But up here in Alaska Ft. Wainwright the MPs will issue either stickers or "extended" paper passes.....So i went with that pass you just keep in your wallet. I know it sounds like a pain in the ass to pull a piece of paper out of your wallet every time but it beats having them ugly ass stickers on your bike!
