Is there any danger in powdercoating my cylinders/fins? I have heard that powdercoating retains heat while wrinkle paint no so much. Any input? Thank you Thank you
I agree, you would have to pull the jugs, heads, cams etc to p/c the bottom 1/2 - 2/3 of the fins, then new seals rings to reassemble, not worth the trouble unless your doing something like this http://www.furyforums.com/forum/honda-fury-general-discussion/3478-pieces-fury.html. The issue that I think you're going to run into is that you can't remove all the fins anyways, just like the top half on each cylinder.
"He" wasn't interested in paint until "he" was informed powdercoating retains heat. "He" was also concerned about the durability and longevity of paint. The service manual shows that the complete cylinder can be removed if you're willing to tear down the entire engine.Think I told him before about how bighitter painted his but he didn't seem interested. Hey if you want to pull the motor and tear it down just to make the fins black, go for it. Most of the major factory black motors are paint and last for years, here is a how to , again, Well, I did it!! - VTXOA"He" wasn't interested in paint until "he" was informed powdercoating retains heat. FYI….New Harley Big Twin engines are powder coated from the factory & they are air cooled so heat retention must not be an issue. Is there any danger in powdercoating my cylinders/fins? I have heard that powdercoating retains heat while wrinkle paint no so much. Any input? Thank you Thank you
