Hi all, been looking into building a set of 1.5 inch handle bars to replace the existing, nothing wrong with the originals , but I just like a bit of individuality and the bars would be any easy build or even fairly cheap to buy. Why didn't Honda make the mounting holes the same as the Harley - the choices would be endless.

The bars aren't the problem; unless you keep the first section similar to the originals the speedo either won't fit or will look completely out of place.

The QUESTION: Has anybody fitted an aftermarket DIGITAL speedo? I need to know if these will work with the Fury speedo signal. Also can someone tell me the color wire that is used for the speedo signal and I can then see what it is and were it is derived from.

Well Guy... I think you are going to be the first on this... Not sure where you can exactly find the wire color, but maybe someone out there with the manual might be able to find it in the schematic if there is one in the manual. Other option is to hit someone up that works at a dealership and see if they can let you now. I would like to see what you come up with... have been thinking of going to a different guage as well but just have not gotten to that point yet. Good Luck! Please post the info on a DIY thread... Looking forward to it.

Thanks for the replies. Looks I need to do a bit of testing to find out what the frequency of the pulse train is. I would presume that all the different systems would just use a Hall Effect pickup. Now to find a portable frequency/pulse counter.
Will let you all know if I find out anything new.

I would look at some of the VTX boards, someone there could have found a guage cluster that works. What style bars are you thinking about making? I've always liked the "v" shaped bars. Simple and easy to make. My only concern with those how far they would have to come back so i wouldn't be leaning to far forward, and tank clearance.'

Interested to see what you come up with.

Yeah, those are sure nice controls/bars but the price is over the top for me. My mate at www.redbackchoppers.com has a set on his custom chopper (Nosferatu), they sure do push the point Le$$ is More.

I want the bars to rise vertically to the height of the hand grips and then come back; currently have the scootworks risers in and I like the height and position of this setup so mine will mimic this positioning. The long vertical rise is to accentuate the chopper look and make the forks appear longer. Saying that, I am saving madly for L&M 8 degree trees, great work L&M about time we had some real gear for the bike.

The bike is all back together after the "Tony Mod" and looks awesome, the seat was a bit loose at the fuel tank end so I wrapped electrical tape around the end of the plastic lugs and fattened them up, removed about 90% of the movement. Will look at getting some plastic pieces welded permanently.

TODAYS MOD: Took off the pillion peg mounts and hack sawed off the crappy trail bike brackets that Honda welded onto them ( left over XR75 brackets I'm sure). Drilled a 1/2 inch hole through them and mounted a set of Kuryakyn Magnum clevis's onto them. Changed the ISO mount to a Harley one and put back the Mini Pilot pegs, just have to repaint the brackets now and all is done. Looks much better than the originals and all for about $80, we get ripped off in Australia.
