Well I have been having issues with the comfort of the stock seat so I called up Mean City Cycles Custom Seat Modifications :: Home and got the ball rolling on getting my seat worked on. I have to call them tomorrow to work out the final details, payment, yadda yadda.

I am going with the Double Decker Memory Foam Modification. Which it was stated it would raise the seat like 1" up and an inch or so back perhaps aswell. I can live with that, or even with a little more

Are you doing the full seat, passenger too or just yours? The wife hates the seat on the bike.. I'm totally comfortable.. but I'm a nice guy and would like to see her happy too.. besides if I find something she's comfortable on, I won't have to stop every 15 minutes for a butt break.

I am just having the Solo pad done.... maybe in the future I will have the rear pad done if it's needed. But that will have to wait until after I get a sissy bar installed.

Well I called them up today since I called too late yesterday [DOH!] and got the details worked out, paid my deposit, and got my date of appointment. I was surprised at how smooth everything went, they got all their duckies in a row over there. Just wish the 24th would get here already

I called Allen also, been emailing him for a couple days, mine goes in about the same time, I got lucky tho, scored a seat off eBay, so no down time, probably offer it up as a loaner as soon as mine is done or others to use.

Nice on the second seat to tide you over. I will be on night shift while my seat is out, so I am ok with a few days without riding the bike. As long as I got it back and together for my week off

What mod did you decide to go with?

I like the way the seat fits me, so i am getting the memory foam and gel insert, not suppose to change the seat hieght or reach, just more comfy

What date is your appointment? Mine is for the 24th. I sorta let my days get lost so I was forced to do 3 day rush via fedx yesterday :/

Actually it is the 25th, I don't know how you got in there before me, I had been emailing Allan since I bought the seat, but when I called he was out. But that will give him 1 more to practice on before mine... LOL

You might get yours before me.... I talked to them today when I woke up and it was stated they will no get to my seat for another day or 3. No buggy... just $ux I ru$h $hipped it for no reason :/ I am sure it will be well worth it once all is said and done.

If they can't get to yours, I guess I won't get the call to pay for mine tomorrow like I was hoping for, but I am sure after all the comments about them I have seen on the VTX board,, they will be worth waiting for.

Well my seat is complete and in route back to me They called today, my wife took care of everything cause I was out cold. Looking forward to go riding again but from now on more comfy.

Here's one for ya. I like you was not so impressed with the factory seat on long hauls so I emailed Corbin Saddles. They had not seen the bike yet so were not able to upgrade the seat easily. They asked if I could leave the bike w/them which was two weeks ago. Here is the finished product which just posted today. They are working on the rear now. I cant wait to sit on this seat. I looks really big but with the backrest out, not so bad. Did 370 miles one day and thought I would end up in a hospital on the way back. I got spoiled on a GL. It will be interesting to see how this works out. The cool thing is that I get this package at no cost other than the loan of the bike and I get my fac seat back for spare.

That does look really comfortable... I'm not feeling the backrest on the solo seat though... I'm interested in seeing the passenger seat with it. Maybe they will work out a sissy bar/back rest to go with the rear seat also ???

They requested approval two days ago to drill the rear fender for the factory bar and backrest. They had already purchased it for templating and are underway now with the rear saddle and backrest. After seeing their typical rocker seat combos, I have no doubt the rear will be sweet and comfortable. My wife states that if she keeps riding on the stock seat, I will soon look back and she will be gone from the machine. This seat upgrade should be awesome for her. The best part is the backrests are removeable and can be used for long runs!!
