For those of you running a spike air cleaner which brand did you go with ? I see several options that vary considerably in price and was wondering if the D&M is that much better than some of the others.

I'll throw the D&M name up there just for the quality products.

I know you can get the knock off's for considerably cheaper price if quality isn't an issue for you ;)

I went with D&M. Liked their finishes and quality.
I was glad to see this thread; been thinkin' about this myself. Seen the closeup's of both predator's and chopped's bikes, and really admired the obvious quality and looks of the elbow/spikes they're both runnin'. Didn't know till I looked over this post they were both D&M. So I checked out D&M's website and - OUCH - I mean, the fit and finish and all is beautiful - those guys make some NICE stuff - BUT - just not sure I see $500 to $600 bucks wortha stuff there.

What I was thinkin' - since thus far I've been very impressed with the quality and eye towards aesthetics of the stuff comin' outta Fuggin's lab - is that their 90 degree elbow and K&N filter for $249 might be the way to go - granted no cone to machine so it'd naturally cost less - but that setup and Troy's plate might be really nice (and high quality) for a lot less. (I know, we haven't seen troy's plate yet, but I've yet to see him make something I didn't like the looks of.)

Anyway, I've got the S&S air cleaner and been pretty happy with it, so I may never change it out, but been seein' all these damn spikes so now I'm startin' to want one lol ... so any input on a good way to do that cost effectively will be very useful, whichever way it goes ...

The Intake from Fuggin Fabrication would be a good deal also. I know it'll provide a greater air flow then stock ;)

I also heard that S&S will be teaming up with Fuggin Fabrication on a package deal with their exhaust and fuel controller.

If you ever wanted to dress up your S&S intake, Accutronix makes cool looking covers to replace the S&S logo ;)

Sorry, I got a little off topic

You currently have an S&S Air cleaner. I would be tempted to stay with it for several reasons.

1) S&S is a USA company
2) S&S makes high quality products that work
3) Your bike will look different than everyone’s bike that does not have an S&S air cleaner
4) Cash savings can be spent on lap dances

You already spent close to $300 for that intake, so if you sell it, the new one won't seem so expensive. LOL. I also have the S&S, liked the looks ever since I bought my first one 30 yrs ago and I have been very satisfied with it. I looked briefly at spike air cleaners for my VTX, the more I read about them, the less impressed I was (too much weight hanging out there, too lean at high speed, to much water gets in, etc) plus I didn't really ever like the looks, and I am skeptical about the performance increase, just my .02
