The world's gone crazy

I'm sure it isn't hard to guess which site you were on. I think a lot of us have ventured over there to witness the knocking of our beloved plastic Hondas. Thought about throwing my Fury away in a ditch somewhere after that....but, I guess I'll keep it for a while. Actually, I've grown to appreciate those who talk down to anyone who doesn't ride a Big Dog or a Harley, or whatever. I believe it has served to thicken my skin. It's only words and opinions and none of it really matters. It's just motorcycle snobbery.

I'm sure I'll catch some flack about this next little story, because I know there are a lot of previous and current Shadow owners on here, but I can't resist. A while back I had someone on a Shadow try to race me on my Fury. I heard them downshift, but I didn't even bother. I just twisted the throttle and left them far behind. Once I stopped and they caught up with me I asked: "What do you think you're doin' tryin' to race that Shadow against my Fury?" So, I guess I can be an ignorant snob of some sort. However, it's their own fault for initiating the race.

Everyone Forgot The Carter years!

The reasons for all this PLASTIC is the combustion motor is ONLY at 22% operating efficiency give or take! That's another reason for all the fuel injection, O2 sensors, loss of the carb and PLASTICS!
We let the fuel injection/computer stretch out the FUEL IN THE TANK.

That means we waste 80% of the fuel we push thru the system! The only viable choice then was weight!!! No more steel bumber, crazy hub caps!
Than came ABS and molds and injection molding!

Big Dogs are built on a blown up Spec UBBBER BIKE! The guys who want them arent conservative and will waste money and GAS on the MASTIFF for the SPEC!!!!! Just like my Escalade, I GOT IT CAUSE I CAN AFFORD IT AND LOVE THE 400 hp motor! BUT THEY ADDED A 6 Speed TO SAVE GAS!!!!!! Weight and Friction= fuel consumption not efficiency! I would love to get a BIG DOG and love their looks!

When Carter was in office WE HAD LINES AND LINES OF PEOPLE WAITING FOR A FEW GALLONS OF GAS!!!!!

SO....... They took the weight out by adding PLASTICS!!!!!!!!

4.00 a gallons still doesn't scare the crazy Americans because if you tell a American they cant they will just to spite you!


New materials will always be around!!!

Plastic are toxic to be around TOXIC MEANS POISON ANYTHING MADE OF CRUDE OIL IS TOXIC! The oil in your car, gas, I believe motor spec AND WEIGHT WAS THE ONLY REASON FOR PLASTIC FENDERS!!

FURY FENDERS WILL BE THE FUTURE SINCE THEY WORK, THEY ARE LIGHT, better MPG, AND DONT RUST!!!!

Once the Nanotube stuff goes forward you will see true Carbon FENDERS and TANKS WHAT WILL YOU PEOPLE OUT THERE DO THEN???The Fury is SOLID and can stand against any bike on it merits!!! Plus Honda does own the CBR racing world right at this moment so........

I JUST FELL OFF MY SOAP BOX!

I absolutely get a kick out of people talking $hit about the Fury.....Especially since it's always online. I have yet to have one Harley or Big Dog owner come up to me in person and put down my Fury....In fact, I have gotten nothing but compliments. The fact of the matter is, Honda makes a better product and most Harley or Big Dog owners realize they got ripped off. What's funny is that most of those riders aren't even "hardcore" enthusiasts. Hells Angels founder "Sonny" Barger said that when they started riding, they would have rode Honda's because they made better bikes, but Harley's were a lot cheaper so that's the route they took. Now these damn Harley's are way over-priced and still break down more than any "Jap" bike. The bottom line is that we all ride to ride.....I could care less if you ride a mo-ped..I will not give you $hit for doing something so many enjoy.

P.S. I frequently hit up the biker bars with my buddies who ride Harleys and when asked what kind of bike I have, I don't even say Fury Chopper...I just say I ride a Honda.....No one says a word. It's nice to be bigger than most!

how about the millions of people walking around looking down at their cell phone and missing the scenery.. or driving mindlessly and unobservant..
that phone call couldn't wait..
the next coronal mass ejection will render all electronics funked....

Without technology, you wouldn't have this medium to rant on... There was and always have been fat kids somewhere in the world, even without technology, just not as many is all. Some technology is actually good for you, can't classify them as all bad Tony... We flew to the moon as a nation... yet, to have that President, the one that inspired a nation to shoot for the moon, shot down by old technology, kind of an oxymoron if ya ask me...

On the subject of the Sun, sun burst happen all the time and that particular effect that your are talking about can happen at any moment so why quit living? You say live for today, but without tomorrow there really is no today. We dream and put our checklists down for the modifications that we want to do to our bike, we make a conclusion of how we want to travel across the country and put our bikes in a trailer so that we can do just that?!... Living for the future is all we really have, as the past is gone.

Yes, sun bursts have taken out our technology from time to time as and that is a proven fact.. we have lost power in certain areas around the country @ times and once we figured out what the problem was, corrected some of those issues...

Sun burst are not our biggest problem as of right now... Think you forget about our magnetic poles spreading the real impact of the sun around the earth before it has time to impact us with a bombardment of gamma rays and radiation. It has been like that ever since we developed the iron core to our earth 4.55 billion years ago. The magnetic poles deflecting the impact of the suns rays it is how we developed from a microbes to the stubbornly arrogant human beings we are today... How do we know that it helps us, the earth, survive the sun's bursts? Technology, albeit it modern or ancestral, we can't forget that otherwise we'd be living in the dark ages still, literally... We'll live for tomorrow so long as we don't ruin it, by forgetting that we are not living for today, but another tomorrow and not forgetting the mistakes that we have made in the past...

Now how important is that call they are on.. more important than someones life?

Next watch pedestrians walking and looking down at their cell phones.. don't want to miss that next text.. could be missing that ROFL.. yet missing their surroundings..

Watch peeps at lunch, watch how many are texting instead of enjoying others company or their food.

I've been working with technology for 30 years..
Don't get me wrong some of the advances are good..

But some has turned peeps into technology zombies..

I think technology is awesome, but I do agree with much of what you say here. Did everyone hear about the guy who recently got killed by a plane making an emergency landing? He was jogging and couldn't hear the plane coming because he was listening to his IPOD. Got what he deserved if you ask me. I have a cell phone, but rarely ever use it in my car. It basically took the place of my home phone. There are people I work with who are on their cell phone more than they are working. Then they gripe about how busy they are. Pisses me off! Video games are fun for kids, but when it's a warm sunny day and the kid is in a dark room playing video games, it makes me sick. I love technology. I hate the stupid f#@king people who abuse it. When we lose electrical power in a storm and I have no television, I come very close to killing myself, because life isn't worth living without TV.

Yes, I came up with it all on my own, with the help of the TV of course and books of course. My wonderful, modern DVR records all sorts of programs for me on the sci-fi channel, discovery channel, the NASA Channel and the history channel, so I learn about something new every day. I am a knowledge hound more or less...

I too hate people that drive around on their cell phone and yes I would kick their teeth out if it were legal... but we just have to yell at them every chance we get... we might eventually make a dent in the 100 million or so people that are addicted to talking on their cell phones while driving right? I totally agree about the problem with people talking on their cell phones while driving, I also totally hate the people that are not on their cell phones and still don't know how to drive, but we can't do anything about them without a stupidity law being passed in California, right?

Have you ever thought that by using that cell phone, they actually aren't missing their surroundings they are just expanding it, per a different medium?

Sure, they'll miss the occasional bird taking a crap on their car, because that text can't wait... totally miss the beauty of a sunset or sunrise as they romantically capture that sunset or sunrise on their camera phones, only to discard it to another person on the other side of the globe via a picture text that's in the middle of a battlefield...

I can see your old school way's of thinking about things as a whole Tony, but getting older doesn't mean you can't embrace the new. Such as our Honda Fury, all shiny and "new" like... Thank goodness it doesn't come with some of the "old school" problems associated with a chopper right?

Sure, it's good to sit down with somebody, get to know them... have a nice lunch or dinner and not involve technology while doing it, if they are with you, tell them to turn off the cell phone during your lunch, otherwise isn't it their life that they are missing, not yours?... On another note, we have become somewhat impersonal to each other as a whole, but yet... we're still connected in some way, as you can see by this rant that both you and me are on.

Yes, I agree that there are some technology whores out there and they will never fulfill their need, even with a cell phone surgically implanted into their skulls. That is the flip side to a human desire to learn though, to communicate with each other. That is our "nature" side of our psychology coming out, it is what got us through the ice age together, it is what made us conquer the lions and other beasts millions of years ago, by banding together, by communicating as a human race.

Anyways /rant...

Bah humbug on your Fury being purdyier than mine btw... oh, when is LAC going to come out with something... can you at least tell us that?
