If you don't, slit the rubber with a razor and peal them off, the throttle side has a plastic throttle sleeve, don't cut so hard that you cut it. I think the chrome on the thottle screws off
Point of no return, you have to forget about the stock grips. They are glued onto the pipe on the clutch side and the plastic throttle sleeve.
Just don't cut real deep on the throttle side..
Kuryakyn ISO grips were two different sizes and noted it. The throttle side was a larger diameter (to slide over the plastic throttle sleeve). Not to mention the glue is very fast acting...
If you really want to keep the stock ones the idea in the link works, I use brake/carb cleaner sprayed into the grip, melts the glue and they slide right off.
