Updated Forward Control Vendors

Hey Fam,

So back in 2019 I purchased these forward controls and did a write up on them. I wasn't very impressed from the get go, but they were half the price of all of the other forward controls at the time:

After firing up the bike for this season and doing some work on it, I'm reinforced in how much I dislike this setup.

So I'm wondering who still makes forward controls for these bikes?

Really I'm looking for 4"+ extension forward, powdercoated in black must be an option, must be STEEL for the reasons I outlined in the thread (aluminum is way too flexy for the brackets). Spacers suck I've learned so anything that needs to be spaced out should have a boss welded to the control plate (a spacer with a bolt through it flexes way too much). I also would like to maintain the stock resevoir location, not looking to move that.

I know that's a long list of requests, but who still produces these things?

I know what a lot of you are gonna say, take the stock ones and modify or have them modified, but I don't want to do that. I keep stock for backups or for when I sell the bike so I can sell the extras separately.

Anyway, what do you guys think for some quality forward controls these days? Would like to get something on order, riding season is here and we just went and picked up the gf's new (to her) bike yesterday:

Well, just looked around. It really looks like Highway Hawk or Accutronix are my only 2 options. That's really a bummer. Highway Hawk of the 2 makes their plate from steel. But they are about $1400 USD now......ugh, maybe I'm living with what I have even though I'm not happy about the setup

I have the accutronix on mine, have no issues. I think they only do 3” forward and up tho

Yeah, I'd like to have to not move the reservoir.
Aluminum also I'd estimate the design I'm using, I have about a 15 or 20% loss in breaking power at the rear brake because everything is flexing so damn much. I want to get rid of that.

I wonder if I could source some OEM components and have them modded/extended to get that far out

Reds Faster went with the German made Highway Hawk and from his description they appear to match your must have list. I have Supreme legends +3" forwards and I have been very happy with them. Last time I looked Bill was doing some company reorg. As he makes a solid product they are worth a look.

Yeah I saw your write-up on those, very thorough. Not sure those are even available anymore. They are for an ABS bike to correct? Mine is the non-ABS version, not sure if that would matter at all.

They have two versions one for ABS and one for non ABS. If you want I can dig up Bill's direct email.

👍 best thing I’ve put on a bike. Here’s the site I got mine from. Absolutely rock solid & very comfy. Yep they have both ABS & non ABS

Already sent him a message but I'm pretty sure he makes his forward controls using OEM components, which I don't have available to be modified

Might not be a rout you want to go and its been a long wile (10ish year's) but I thought there was a metal supplier in the kent/auburn area that also does water jet cutting. Could design your own implementing your improvements and have them cut the parts. Once they are the way you want, powder coat them. Since the parts should be relatively small, could even powder coat them yourself with a cheap basic kit and a decent toaster oven.

I reached out to Vray. I think I'm going to go that route. I don't have the space everything set up for this kind of fab unfortunately. When I get a shop...yes.

As a follow up to my last post, he sent me a bunch of his fwd control pics in our DM conversation. Awesome work as we all know. And the price to modify your stock components is like half of what the fwd control "kits" out there charge. I'm really stoked to have to OEM feel back.

I'm going with 4" controls as the 3.5 I'm on now still feel a bit cramped. I'm also having him cut off the brake and shifter pegs so I can run any bolt on ones I want. The plates for the footrests will have the Harley adapters to basically run any foot rest or floor board. I'm stoked.

Sounds like a great outcome. Don't forget to post photos of them installed.

Absolutely. Threads are worthless without them. Have some other goodies coming for the Fury as well.
Have to decide if I want to save up for an air ride again or just run the stock shock with my lowering spring.

That's a hard one for sure. I guess depending on where you live the length of the riding season may be the deciding factor which way you go.

The air ride soaks up those tiny sharp impacts, i.e. where they blast and seal the cracks on the road, way better than any spring can

I made a bracket for my gauge, just under the tank. I would get a 200lb gauge, as the 100lb is almost near the limit, but works
