They told me: Sir if you really want it, sure we can do it, but its a waste of your money.

That's exactly what the mechanic and the owner of the Honda dealership told me. Under their advice, I've never had them checked and the bike has over 11,000 miles on it now. I can hear just a little bit of rattling in the engine while going down the street if I listen for it, but nothing major. The other day I asked my mechanic about it and he said that he might check them out on the next oil change.

I'm not too worried about it. If I can hear them rattling, at least I know they're not too tight. LOL

There's an old rule-of-thumb in motorcycling; if you can hear the tappets clicking just slightly, they're not too tight. If not, you'd better be concerned. Tight valves WILL burn

That's the point I was making.
