I created this video by mounting a GoPro on the right-hand side passenger foot peg. Then I rode the same route before and after the installation of the Cobra's. The ride was 20 minutes and the 6 minute 40 second video presents a variety of normal riding situations with a clip of the stock exhaust followed by a clip of the Cobra 3" Slip-ons for the same segment of the route.
This camera placement was chosen to maximize exhaust sound quality. Hopefully it will help you if you are considering thie Cobra 3-inch slip-on mufflers.
Nice video. I fitted the Cobra 3" slipons last month. I like the deeper sound they produce without being to loud, plus they look alot better than the oem part
That was a lot of work. Thankyou for doing this.
I have the cobra 3" slips too. And as Gar said, "Just right."
The slips get a lot louder if you ever get the itch to take the baffles out. I had to put mine back in; the sound was really obnoxious. Amazing what that 1" of fiberglass does.
Make no mistake, that's Bill's video . They are baffled but that is no measure of whether or not you need a controller. If you are going by 'the book' use a fuel controller any time you modify intake or exhaust. Since you will likely change your air cleaner eventually as well there is only one controller that will automatically adapt to any changes you make in the future and that is the Cobra PowrPro. All others are manually calibrated and since you are asking this question they are probably not well suited to your knowledge base. You can do more damage with a miss adjusted manual fuel controller than by just doing the slip-ons without a controller. You will get lots of contrary advice from the many users of fuel controllers but check their qualifications first .
I agree that the powerpro is the one I would purchase. Just a matter of balance the cost of doing all at once. Pipes/air filter mod/powerpro vs trying to improve the sound a bit until i have the $2500 for the trio of upgrades i have in mind. I understood that a certain amount of back pressure was needed in order to prevent burnt valves and other engine atrocities and i was wondering is a baffled set of slip ons would be "close" enough to be ok. I know i will never get an absolute answer to this question. But thanks for the advice. Ill prolly just keep rolling stock until i can afford the trio.
I know I'm going to cop a lot of flack for this but I prefer the stock muffler. Now before you all get on my case I have done some experimenting with the AU/EU muffler and the US muffler (they are different). The stock US part is louder than the AU/EU part.
Right now I am running a stock US muffler, PowrPro, Spike air cleaner and the O2 sensors connected. Works well and sounds good to my ears.
The Cobra 3 inch slip ons are really hard to beaT FOR SOUND...And the price is reasonable too....Actually, I like the sound of the slip ons much more than the swpts...My buddy has the swepts on his Fury, like everybody else...Had them put on when he bought the bike...Now he wishes he would have known about the slip ons after riding with me...Just the facts Mamm...
