I made a side mount out of scrap metal and found out it's Titanium. Does anyone out there have the equipment and experience to weld it together for me?

Your easiest bet would be to try bolting it together. I personally never welded Titanium but heard its a pain in the neck. even aluminum can be a pain if you dont have a good welder because you gotta pulse it right
Welding titanium is a specialty type and must be shielded from air in a vacuum or container containing inert gas. Best bet, clamp and epoxy, or bolt thru. Maybe someone has the special equip here?

How did you manage to get that far and not know it's titanium? I sure home you werent using feeds and speeds for a softer, easier to cut material.

A quick way to check if it's titanium is to run it on a belt sander. It will make cool looking blue and white sparks.
Someone gave me a pile of scrap metal and this piece just happen to be the thickness that I liked. looks like regualar sheet metal to me and I had it cut to size by a press and didn't find out it was titanium until we went to smooth the edges. I sparked bright white which is a sign of titanuim. Talked to coulple of welders and they said the weld has to be in an oxygen free enviorment by having argon as a shielding gas. I live in a small town and no one has welded titanium before.
you might be better off to look through the pile again and see if you can find a piece of steel or aluminum with the thickness you like and start over. I know it's a pain in the @ss but even if you do find someone with the equipment to weld titanium, I doubt they'll do it for free. And you'll prolly have to pay for shipping both ways to get it to them and back.

TIG, argon with diffuser cup, and non-thoriated electrode.

Wait a minuet Bar Fury: Didn't they call you TIG, because you wore a argon diffuser cap with a non-thoriated electrode on top! Wasn't that you?:D

Musta' been! LOL.

Ummm, sell the titanium if it's a big piece and buy yourself some nice stainless steel plus some other things?... :D
