I am thinking about painting the covers silver but haven't decided yet. On my other bike I took off the painted and put on chrome . Don't know about the heat, it did get slightly above freezing today, but my drive looks like that bobsled track I saw on tv. I was hoping to take the bike to an ABATE swap meet/bike show Sunday, but the paint isn't dry on it yet.Great idea. I wonder if it were flat black or body color, would it draw less attention but still keep it tidy ? Seems to steal some of the limelight from the clutch cover ??? What are your thoughts on painting the side covers body color ?
BTW, how is the rear pipe and heat shield on the inside of your right leg.

It isn't difficult, but it is messy. Remove seat, suction all gas out of tank, remove bolt at rear of tank, lift rear of tank and disconnect the wires going to sensor, disconnect vent tube, supply and return hoses, clean up rest of the gas you didn't get out of tank. It is held in by 1 bolt and 2 rubber mounts (front), so once you lift the rear, the tank pulls back and up.If you are quick take a small section of gas line, undo the return (one in front) first, slip the hose on, then remove the supply and slip the other end of the hose onto it, blocking the fuel in the tank.Looks good man!, how hard was to get that tank off?
You still have a little gas left, not much but probably around a 1/2 cup or so. Id recommend doing your idea then lay out some rags to catch any that might spill out to keep it from getting on the paint or plastichromeMy concern was getting gas all over place!, maybe I'll just run it empty.
