Looks good, but I'm wondering how it's going to hold up? And did you just use some gloss black paint or what? Thanks for the pictures. I was thinking to do this same thing and to also do the factory air cover.

Factory air cover????? Air Cleaner or what... just save up while you are over "there" AND replace everything... trust me... once you get back and realize that you aren't rubbing on the factory cleaner because you replaced it... it will be worth it....

yeah I meant the factory air intake cover. lol it's hard to save up and buy another one as I have been buying parts while I'm over here to install when I get back, I have bought accutronix side mount plate bracket, irate skull grill cover, Honda backrest with pad and my next purchase is Morton Inferno's this next payday, unfortunately I have to save some money for the wife's car or trust me I would keep on buying for the bike, but I have to make the wife happy also. I would love to have the L & M adapter and a spike but that's 400 right there at least. To tell the truth I don't mind the factory air cleaner to much but I know a spike would look better, figured I could just paint it and be happy until I could save up. sorry didn't mean to thread jack CB Fury.

Yeah Yeah... Whatever.... LOL

I did do the spike with the L&M adapter and all together was about $340 or so. Bought my spike off ebay and then the adapter from L&M... Just have to shop around for the spike... you can find them for a fare price.

As for the painting, I sanded the plastic with some 400 then 600... sprayed with semi black for a bottom coat, then two coats of gloss and then two more coats of clear. Was sanding with some 1000 grit between them and what you see is my end result. Thanks for the notes.

I learned thru my RC trucks that if you have chromed plastic, you can almost always take the chrome off with out damaging the plastic by using Easy Off oven cleaner. Just spray the piece with the cleaner and let it sit. It may take more then one application but i know for my RC rig it took all the chrome right off. Just rinse and watch the chrome fall off. Then just follow with some quality paint.

PS. you have to use the Easy Off with the YELLOW cap.
