Last I heard they are not dot approved. They will sell you a helmet for kayaking tho.
They are the same helmets they have always had.It seems for some reason they are not allowed to say they are for motorcycles anymore.
I tried to get info from them about the safety of the helmet but they kept trying to dodge my questions in there answerers. I wanted the comparison on them to the DOT helmets. No luck. They look good but probably not too safe for motorcycle riding.
I think I am going to get one for cruising in town. I'll where the DOT on highway rides.
I would suggest, to one and all, that the wearer of a non-DOT-approved helmet probably has a head (and associated contents) that's not worth saving! A quick review of the current accident/death-by-head-injury statistics would support that view.

Cheers
Thanks MrByber, I agree i think i will get one for intown riding, and find a dot for long trips when ever that may be!
I want an ACC for in town riding also. Stonewheel picked up one of these helmets and I compared it to my DOT half helmet. They look really cool, but I really doubt they provide much protection. JMHO:cool:

I am pretty happy with mine, No half helmet is going to protect your face tho.

My biggest complaint is the strap. Cheap plastic clip and no D ring.
That’s pretty damn expensive for a Kayaking helmet too. Maybe I should just look at getting a really cool Kayak helmet. :)
Interesting, i didnt know they used a cheap plastic clip for the straps.
If I were to buy again, I woulndt get the polo, just a straight up half. The polo really catches the wind under my ears.
A helmet that cannot pass the 49 CFR 571.218 (FMVSS) specifications for impact attenuation or penetration is not safe to wear at any speed, not just on the highway.

Cant pass the what??????????????
So if I hit my head on a rock at ten mph in my kayak it won't help?
Just kidding. :D
I just recieved this email in response to my interest of the acc helmets!

"Composite Craft has purchased the assets of Head Trip Helmets from Advanced Carbon Composites. We will be manufacturing the same lightweight kayak helmets.

Per your email request you are interested in the Daffy helmet with the
silver strips, unfortunately we are not able to do that. The helmets are
only available in the colors that will be on our new website, which

will available for viewing on Mon, June 21st.

Thanks
