okay i am in the market for a new rear fender. i have thought about changing mine out and using a metal one something like this.

anythoughts on if this would work?

I think i would just need to weld a few mounting tabs to the front.

the seat gap is only part of my problem. i still need a new fender! want to make a trip to kansas with welder

You could make something like that work with some fabrication but I wouldnt use that fender. You would want to start with a solid fender WITHOUT the belt cut out and if you plan on using the stock rear support structure it will be kinda hard to find one the exact shape you need.

ya i started some basic measurments our fender under the seat is 11'' wide but at the taillight is a little over 9''. I agree there are other fenders out there, just started looking on ebay and not sure of the best one yet to use.
