Hi I cleaned my gas cap and it works if i push down hard on it but when i put it in the gas tank it wont lock. Take it out in my hands it locks and opens with a hard push on the rubber any suggestions pls
Mate it will be a freakin’ cold day in hell when I swap that sound & feel for a soulless blender electricYeah ...but time really takes flight.... when we finally realize that our bikes will outlive us
Such a shame the assembly let the bikes down. I think both companies tried to do the right thing as they had brand name components such as S&S engines and Baker transmissions.Big Dogs had major recalls from wiring, engines, and even the swing arm snapping off the rear axle.
I loved the look of the Iron Horses, but they were the same. Amateurly assembled with engines mounted out of line with the belts to cheap electrical wire run through the whole bike that needed replacing.
So sad to see that happen to what could've been iconic bikes.
EDIT: I did just notice someone is back building Big Dogs again the last couple of years. Crazy expensive.
I saw one of Scotty Kilmers recent vids last night (crazy abrasive lunatic on YT yet knows his shit on repairing cars) He said just stop & doing what you doing with cars & buy Japanese made. He’s repaired more cars than I’ve seen I’d sayIt does demonstrate just how much work Honda and the other Japanese manufacturers put into R&D to make sure the bikes are reliable and still be reasonably affordable.
Yes he is quite the character. I think in general he is correct but my experience with two brands he bashed was quite the opposite. Maybe I got lucky but lucky with four cars? He bashes the life out of Fiat, now he may be correct for the US market as the US versions of the Fiat 500 are made in Mexico but the Australian versions are made in Poland and don't seem to have the same problems. My eldest daughter and I have had our 500s for seven years and all they ever needed was regular service. He also likes to bash Saturn but when I lived in California my wife had a used 1998 Saturn SL2 and it never gave us any problems. I was so impressed with it that I ended up getting a 2002 Saturn SC2 and still no problems.I saw one of Scotty Kilmers recent vids last night (crazy abrasive lunatic on YT yet knows his shit on repairing cars) He said just stop & doing what you doing with cars & but Japanese made. Really if you had to buy a cheap 2nd car your life depended on then the Camry wins. I’ve seen so many 300k+ running on 1lt of tree sap for oil. I have a ‘21 mirage (I need a tiny micro that fits in my car space with my 2 bikes) Arguably the most underpowered car ever made yet it’s dry inside & has great aircon, my cars never do over 1-2k miles a year these days as it’s great bike weather year round here . I see the odd 500 about yet having owned 4 euros (vw,pug & cit) over the past 15 yrs I’ve seen just too many bills not due to high mileage. MG (Chinese) sell big here & man do they have a bad rep but people still buy ‘em. I think it’s the avail atm that helps, you really struggle to buy a new car here these days. Land Cruiser etc have 12+ mth lead timesWith Scotty we all know the bottom line "buy made in Japan Toyota".
I like them yet having owned both an 1800 & the fury. The fury just has that sweet spot balance of hp, torque, gearbox & manoeuvrability etc etc. I actually thought Big Dog went bust. I do like their style for sureSpeaking of Big Dog 2.0 they are boasting an "all new redesigned tank". It looks very much like our Fury tank to me, olny a little shorter.

My wife is a big Hyundai fan. Her IX35 is also 7 years old and other than the water pump pulley breaking and falling off (at least that happened 20 metres from home) she has never had any trouble with it. My son also has I Hyundai and he beats the life out of it, crashed it three times and it's still going unlike his new car a Kia Stinger that has been waiting for parts for four months.Longest lasting car I’ve ever owned was a 2010 Hyundai sonata. When I say I beat the life out of it… it’s an understatement. Literally never actually changed the oil, just filled it when needed. Only ever had to put tires and brakes on it and it ran for 400k when it was totaled in its second accident and it still ran at that point. It never gave me a problem, always started and was a comfortable decent riding car. Oh and I put a battery in it once. Hyundai is sides with me.
