dang, but that copper look is nice.StPete--the shot of your garage door reminds me that i gotta replace mine. bought an old fixer upper house a few years back--gutted it and basically started over--left the GD and opener for last--
sounds like a Sherman tank every time we open/close it.
keep putting it off--sounds too much like work!

Ok, well this kinda sucks........... I thought doing the rim swap was gunna be a farly easy job but it turned out a little more involved. I'm gunna drop off both rims at the bike shop today and let them install the new bearings and "stuff" and I will put it back on the bike as soon as I find a 32mm scocket for my torque wrench!

dang, i don't have one either, else, I'd give it to ya.
good move--let someone else do it.

Nice!

I just ordered my rims from Classic Components, as well as the rear cover from L&M. All parts should be here by Tues next week, at the latest.

I'll be posting post-installation pics, as well. This should complete the total look of the bike!
Tuesday will feel like 6 weeks from now- You went with the their exchange program, right? Looking forward to the new look!

Yes, Cycle Image shipped the rear rim and rotors the next day after I ordered them and the front followed 2 days later. I changed the rear tire to a Metzeler ME880 210/40R18 to give it a little wider look and had them put in the Dyna Beads and put the rear wheel back the bike last night by myself! My buddy had other things on his mind and showed up a few hours late. Word of advice, Not easy to put it back on by yourself, have someone give you a hand. I am going to ride the bike over to the cycle shop today and bring the front rim and let them do the exchange. I will post the pics when it is done. it should warm up nice today so I hope to get a decent ride in so I will let you know how the tire / beads works out.

Diddlin' around in PhotoShop, so far I've come up with this:

good idea, but you need to break up the copper around the middle more. Obviously you cant copper the shock shafts, so over all you should keep some silver/chrome through out the bike.

IMHO if you really want to stand out, go with a copper finish ( on black of course ) vs. chrome. Im not sure how hard it would be to keep the copper color from turning, but it is definately eye catching.

Wow!!!!! I love the chrome and polished parts. I can't talk myself into spending that much on a depreciating asset, but if I had the cash to blow, I would do it in a heartbeat.

I also like the images of the copper, but I think it would tarnish too fast. Years ago I got into gold plating and plated about half of the chrome on a black Shadow 1100. I really liked it. The black, silver and gold combination was something I had never seen in my area, and got a lot of attention for such a plain bike. The bike is now 11 years old and shows quite a bit of wear, but the gold has held up pretty well. The chrome process holds up much better than a single layer of gold.

The wheels look awesome!! The only problem with hte copper idea is as others have said is keeping it polished so it doesnt tarnish.
Richard, are ya'll expecting more snow?? I'll be through your area Monday nite. On a sidenote, it was 78 here yesterday, got in about a 160 mile ride before the "cold front" blew in, dropped us down to the 50's.....BRRRRRR!:D

Rear wheel cover came from L&M on Saturday.
Chromed Fury wheels came today from Classic Components.

WOW!!

Dropped off the parts at the shop and taking my bike up soon.
This is not my forte', so I'll let the pros do all the mechanical switharoo.

I cannot wait to post the results. You're gonna sh!t
